18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two broth- ers, Simon (who is called Pe- ter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.


19 And he said to them, "Fol- and taught them, saying: low me, and I will make you fishers of men."


20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him.


21 And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.


22 Immediately they left the boat and their father and fol- lowed him.


23 And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease called sons of God. and every affliction among the people.


24 So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, epileptics, and par- alytics, and he healed them.


25 And great crowds fol- lowed him from Galilee and the Decapolis, and from Je- rusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.


CHAPTER 5


Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disci ples came to him. 2 And he opened his mouth


3"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the king dom of heaven.

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.


14 John would have prevent ed him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?"


15 But Jesus answered him, "Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he consented.


16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw

when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him."


9 After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose in the east went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was.

14 And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt


15 and remained there un- til the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what the Lord


had spoken by the prophet, "Out of Egypt I called my son."


16 Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furi ous, and he sent and killed all the male children in Beth lehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men..


17 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah:goons!

20 saying, "Rise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child's life are


21 And he rose and took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.


22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he withdrew to the district of Galilee.

2 saying, "Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose in the east and have come to worship him."


3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;


4 and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. i noms

6"And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel."
